Late strike stuns Manx

articlemain

South Manx missed the chance to go clear in second in Division One of the Maccabi Masters League after they were denied by a late show from EDRS Stonegrove.

Nick Tromans, David Hyman and Darren Coon had put the Manx in the driving seat and despite a Paul Chilton goal, EDRS were still 3-1 behind with just five minutes remaining. They were given a lifeline by Phil Silver and the comeback was complete courtesy of a last-minute own goal.

In Division Two, former Wingate & Finchley manager Jon Bolle notched four goals as Glenthorne United B recorded a 6-0 demolition of Brady Maccabi B. Gary Swerner and Jon Diamond also found the net.
Temple Fortune B defeated Clayhall B 3-1 with Robert Botkai, Steve Feiger and Graham Meyer scoring for Fortune. Jon Seigal snatched Clayhall’s consolation.

Norstar completed a double over Pel City with all the goals coming in the second half. David Jackson put Norstar and their lead was soon doubled when Pel defender Gary Franklin scored at the wrong end. Pel pulled one back following an excellent individual effort from guest Paul Herszaft, but Norstar held on to stay joint-top alongside Clayhall A.
