Former Maccabi GB Sports Personality of the Year Dov Katz helped the Brighton table tennis team to second place after the latest round of British League Division One matches in Devon.

Katz, who will be participating in his fourth Maccabiah in Israel next summer, rolled back the years with some fine victories as Brighton recorded wins over Progress (7-1), York Gardens (6-2) and Chippenham (7-1).

They lost narrowly against league leaders Urban Progress (5-3).
Hailed by Katz as “simply a superb all-round team performance”, Brighton need to finish in the top two to qualify for the Premiership playoffs next May.

Brighton’s hopes will be boosted by the return of England cadet international and Maccabi starlet Zak Zilesnick for the next round of matches in January.
