Jerusalem hit the jackpot

articlemain

Three goals from Eran Ben Ari helped Jerusalem return to form with a 6-1 demolition of Modi'in.

The Modi'in old boy came back to haunt his former club with three second-half goals in a one-sided contest as last season's runners-up clicked into gear.

Javier Mendez, Jerusalem's Chilean debutant, had an instant impact in his first JC Olim League match. He set up striker Eli Warner with his first touch, leaving the former North West Neasden marksman to fire home.

Further strikes from Miga Guar and David Zackon gave Jerusalem a 3-0 lead at the interval. Ben Ari put the game to bed with two quickfire goals before Modi'in grabbed a consolation through Chaim Finn. Ben Ari had the final say with his third and Jerusalem's sixth.

The match between Netanya and Ashdod ended in controversial fashion. A fiery encounter erupted at 2-2 and came to a premature end when Ashdod were awarded a second penalty that left Netanya outraged. Since the resulting penalty was scored by Ashdod, they were awarded the points despite the full 90 minutes not being completed.
