JC Olim League Week 12 review

articlemain

Jaffa recorded an emphatic 6-0 victory over Modiin in the JC Olim League.

A booking error at the Modiin home pitch meant that this game was played at a neutral venue in south Tel Aviv.

It was not long until the team from down the road in Jaffa took an early lead. Playing up front in place of his suspended brother, Daniel Berkeley tucked away his first of the night to put Jaffa ahead.

The following 20 minutes saw Modiin come back into the game and dominate possession without creating too many shooting opportunities.

This was punished by Jaffa when Berkeley lobbed the onrushing Modiin keeper with a 'Poborsky' style lob to make it 2-0 to Jaffa at half time.

The next goal would be crucial in a game that could swing either way. Fortunately for Jaffa, man-of-the-match, Nir Madmon placed the ball in the corner of the net via a deflection to give a three-goal cushion.

From this point on Jaffa started relaxing and playing flowing football with further goals from Eyal Hoffman and Asaf Shapira making it 5-0.

There was to be a controversial moment when Rani Madmon picked up his second yellow card for an off the ball incident, suspending him for the next Jaffa match against Ashdod.

Modiin were boosted by the man advantage and created some good openings to threaten Yochanan in the Jaffa goal.

Though it was be Jaffa who rounded off the scoring as the forecast rain began to fall with Nir Hacohen striking beyond the flailing arms of Avi Azizoff in the Modiin goal.

Next week’s action sees a top-half clash between England FC and Raanana as well as a bottom of the table clash between Netanya and Aviv City.

Aviv City still looking for the their first points of the season will do everything possible to get a win from Netanaya who are just one place above them with one win and four losses.

Soon the 8-team league will split into 2 separate divisions of 4 so every point is going to be precious.
