JC MSFL Team of the Week - October 9

articlemain

A record number of nominations left the judges with some big decisions after Matchday Six of the JC MSFL season.

Darren Rolfe (UJIA) - it was touch and go between Rolfe and Los Blancos’ Josh Cohen but the fact that the former’s heroics led to three points ultimately swayed the judges.

Dan Gilbert (Norstar A) - every Team of the Week needs a solid, reliable right-back and Gilbert put forward his case with a performance out of the top-drawer against Montana

Josh Lipman (Hendon Utd SC A) - was immense at the back against Raiders B. The Reds back-line was expecting to have a fairly quiet morning but things did not go to plan, and had it not been for a rock-solid display from Lipman, they could’ve been left with egg on their faces

Ilan Shaki (Shirley Park) - the John Terry of the lower leagues, Shaki got the Park boys off to the perfect start with a brace from centre half to kill off any hopes of a Catford win

Alex Levack (Faithfold A) - See Player of the Week

Craig Pearl (Chigwell Athletic) - “ran the game from start to finish. The boy oozes class”

Ricky Lawrence (SPEC) - I’ve run out of superlatives for the man who also wins JC Beard of the Week. Having bigged him up as the JC star man in my weekend preview, Lawrence did not disappoint. His brilliant brace and silky performance had home fans on the edge of their seats. After seeing the team going behind, he took the battle to FC Team and cracked home a stunning equaliser. He went on to cap a masterful display with a rasping drive to seal the win

Josh Hershman (Brady Maccabi A) - “great energy, great performance, great goal

Danny Moss (FC Team A - “catch him if you can”. Mossy hit the ground running on Sunday as he left Raiders Ben Sheldon for dead in the opening minutes to set up Team’s first goal. His quick feet, pace and movement ensured that the boys in yellow and blue threatened time and again. One of the most impressive young Jewish footballers I’ve seen in a long time

Dan Gordon (Redbridge JC C) - scored two and set up another two in the 4-2 win over FC Team B. One of the hottest strikers in the league at the moment. Leading from the front and leading my example

Dan Baneth (Camden Park) - “fantastic up front on his return to the team after being dropped due to his over active nightlife. Vision and a wonderful cross-field ball to set up Leo Feldman for the opening goal. Great pace and strength and an emphatic finish to make it 2-1, and then won a penalty which Feldman converted after springing the offside trap and rounding the keeper, who cleaned him out. Baneth was a real class act
