Israelis sparkle in Champions League

Maor Melikson, the former Betar Jerusalem striker, scored a second half winner as Polish champions Wisla Krakow won 2-1 away to Liteks Lovetch of Bulgaria in the third qualifying round of the Champions League.

Bebras Natcho, the ex-Hapoel Tel Aviv midfielder, was also on target, scoring the second goal for Rubin Kazan in a 2-0 away victory over Dynamo Kiev.

In the Europa League, Bnei Yehuda will take a 1-0 lead to Sweden next week after beating Helsingborg. Argentinean striker Pedro Galvan nabbed the winner just before half time.

Maccabi Haifa host Maribor at Kiryat Eliezer in the first leg of the third qualifying round tonight.
