Israel given a grilling by Denmark

articlemain

Israel face a playoff for fifth place after losing to Denmark at the ICC European Under 19 Division 2 Tournament in the Isle of Man.

Following back-to-back wins over Belgium and Norway, they went down by 8 wickets against the group winners at Cronkbourne.

Israel won the toss and elected to bat first. A 37-run partnership for the second wicket between Josh Evans and Raphael Schachat boosted the Israel score but there was a collapse once Evans was dismissed for 31.

Israel were bowled out for 100. Schachat finished unbeaten on 26 whilst Aqeel Amjad was the pick of the bowlers with 3-25.

Denmark reached their target after 25.3 overs, for the loss of four wickets. The in-form Evans was Israel’s best bowler, returning figures of 3-31.

Denmark will meet the Isle of Man in the final.
