Hawks soar past HMH Haifa

articlemain

Hendon Hawks Rovers netted nine times to overcome a resilient HMH Haifa to secure a 9-3 victory in the Maccabi National Junior League.

Hawks Rovers are looking unbeatable this season after grabbing maximum points from their opening four games. They opened the scoring with some good teamwork which opened up the Haifa defence for David Amor to net his 19th of the season.

Akiva Restan waded in on the action after a brilliant one-two with Amor before striking the ball past the Haifa keeper.

HMH Haifa then hit back after poaching a cross from the right hand side into the back of the Rovers net. Restan then extended the Hawks lead with a shot from distance beating the HMH keeper.

Jonathan Korn then demonstrated some intelligent football with a brilliant run into the space behind the HMH defence. Matti Karp then picked Korn out with a pin-point pass for Korn to strike the ball into the bottom corner.

The second half followed the same pattern as the first with both teams creating chances but it was Hawks Rovers who were the more dominant force as Restan secured his hat-trick after cutting inside before unleashing another shot from the edge of the penalty area to beat the Haifa keeper.

Rafi Isaacson secured his first goal of the season on his debut after running down the line to provide Amor with an option for a pass. Amor picked him out with a through ball which Isaacson slotted past the Haifa keeper.

Haifa then hit back again after capitalising on sloppy defending from the Hawks Rovers inability to clear the ball from their lines. Korn however, then netted a brace after cutting inside from the right to slot the ball away from the outstretched Haifa keeper.
Restan then secured his fourth of the afternoon from a set-piece which looped over the HMH keeper and nestled into the roof of the net.

Haifa grabbed their third consolation goal of the afternoon but it was Hendon Hawks who ended the scoring with Korn on hand to poach a cross from Restan at the far post for his hat-trick.
