A late strike from Ben Gould saw Manchester Maccabi win the Darren Rose Memorial Trophy after a hard fought contest against the MJSL.

Maccabi just about edged the game although MJSL will count themselves unlucky hitting the woodwork and having a lot more of the ball in good positions.

Max Rose opened the scoring midway through the first half with an excellent 20 yard shot low into the right-hand corner.

However, Maccabi's hopes were hit when they lost Louis Libbert to a knee injury.

The MJSL had hit a post and were denied an equaliser by a goalline clearance plus an excellent reaction save as they went into the break trailing.

But they got the goal their efforts deserved through Adam Tauber and it looked as though penalties were on the cards with no extra time in this annual fixture.

However, it was left to Gould to get the winner just before the end wrestling the trophy back off the MJSL until next August.
