Giorgi bows out in round two in Melbourne

Italian ace Camila Giorgi bowed out of the Australian Open after going down in three sets against 25th seed Alize Cornet of France in Melbourne.

A first-round winner over Storm Sanders, Giorgi went down 3-6, 4-6, 6-4.

Having come through the qualifiers, American Wayne Odesnik bowed out in five sets against Vincent Millot of France, while Amir Weintraub and Diego Schwartzman failed to make the main draw.

There was better news for Peer in the Ladies Doubles however, as she and Soler Espinosa won a three-set thriller against YJ Chan and Janette Husarova 7-5, 4-6, 6-4.

Sharon Fichman and Scott Lipsky were first-round casualties in their respective competitions.
