GB Maccabiah Junior Netball squad selected

articlemain

Maccabi GB has selected 11 athletes who will represent Team GB’s Junior Netball squad at this summer’s 19th Maccabiah Games.

The side has a relatively new feel to it, with all the Netballers playing in a Maccabiah Games for the first time.

The group will be lead by Team Manager and Netball coach, Gemma Caplan, who won silver at the 2009 Maccabiah Games in this competition.

The team will be aiming to go one step further this year and return with gold, with Vanessa McErlain-Naylor – a UKCC Level 3 coach who works with the Yorkshire Jets Netball Talent League team - appointed Head Coach. She will bring her valuable experience and expertise to coach the side before and during the competition in Israel.

Vanessa McErlain-Naylor said: "All players and staff are fully committed to the team and working hard to achieve the goal of coming home with a medal. Everyone is excited and looking forward to the whole experience.

"We are proud to be participating at the Maccabiah Games, representing Team GB and competing alongside other Jewish athletes from around the world."

Maccabi GB Netball Chair, Beverly Jones said: "The squad has started at a higher skill level, with the majority playing league and regional netball this season.

"We are lucky to have Vanessa coaching the squad - already there is a great team spirit and together with their commitment and skills make for a winning team. I see gold medals in their hands."
