Future is Grays for Sloma

articlemain

Sam Sloma joined has joined ambitious Blue Square Premier club Grays Athletic.

The 25-year-old was released by League Two side Dagenham & Redbridge at the end of the season following two successful campaigns during which he helped the Victoria Road club win promotion from the Conference for the first time.

Sloma penned the deal on Wednesday and starts pre-season training on Monday. “I had three or four offers from other clubs and was in negotiation with another Football League outfit but Grays offered me the most attractive package,” he said. “They have signed a few players and are looking to progress. The ground is also not far from my home and I know a couple of the players there.”

Disappointed to be dropping out of the league, Sloma noted: “I played and scored in the Football League which is something that no one can take away from me. I have now joined a team looking to get into the league for the first time and that would be a massive achievement.

“I can bring to the table experience of winning the league, which was formerly the Conference, and the club’s ambition is one of the main reasons I decided to join.”

Mitch Hahn has joined the Jewish revolution at Enfield Town, having been snapped up by managers Stewart Margolis and Adam Lee, who took over in April.

Hahn, 21, made more than 100 appearances for last year’s play-off finalists Redbridge and put in a man of the match display in the side’s 4-1 rout of Town last season, getting on the scoresheet and setting up two more. He has also played for Southend United in the Football League. Margolis said: “Mitch is a really good player who I’ve known about for a long time. He can play anywhere across the middle or up front, and he scores lots of goals. He had a fantastic game against us last season and I am really pleased to have him with us for next season.”
