Furman sparkles for Bafana Bafana

Dean Furman described playing against Brazil as a dream come true.

The Oldham Athletic captain played for an hour in his debut match for South Africa in the 1-0 international friendly defeat against Brazil at Estadio do Morumbi in Sao Paulo.

Furman said: "I know it's a cliché, but it's the stuff you dream about as a boy. And for me, it didn’t matter who the game was against — just to be involved with my country again, with Bafana Bafana — was an amazing experience.

"To play Brazil was just another bonus and it was something I will never forget."

Lining up against the likes of Dani Alves, David Luis, Oscar, Ramires, Neymar and Hulk, midfielder Furman, 24, impressed manager Gorden Igesund.

"I thought I had a few nice touches, kept it nice and tidy," he said. "Hopefully there’s a lot more to come."

Furman was named man-of-the-match following another solid display in midfield in Tuesday’s 2-0 victory over Mozambique.
