Daniel Seligman believes Heaton Park Rovers can approach their New Year fixture against Haroldeans in confident mood following the 6-0 demolition of Flixton Reserves.

Jonny Franks moved on to 18 goals for the season with a hat-trick helping HPR leapfrog Maccabi Manchester 3rd and finish 2013 in third place.

"We've been superb for the last two months and were phenomenal against Flixton,” said Seligman. “We absolutely annihilated them."

Alex Swift, Ben Annis and substitute Dan Franks also registered in a game Flixton finished the match with nine players following two red cards, but Seligman believes his troops would have come through had it finished 11-a-side.

"This result has been coming,” he said. “The title would be a big ask given the way we started the season, but the aim now is to finish in the top two or three and have a good run in the cups.

"I'm delighted with our run as we’ve only lost one out of our last eight games. We’ll enjoy the break before our next match against Haroldeans on January 5 which is now a really big game."
