Enfield job for Lee and Margolis

articlemain

Former Wingate & Finchley manager Adam Lee has been appointed joint-manager of Division One North side Enfield Town along with Stewart Margolis. Lee, who managed Team GB at the 2005 Maccabiah Games, had been looking to get back into management after his six-year reign with the Abrahams Stadium club ended in September. Last season, he steered the club to ninth in the Ryman League Division One North, their best ever finish and points tally.

Ahead of Wednesday night’s Middlesex Charity Cup final, Lee said: “I had a couple of offers after leaving Wingate but the location was not right.

“I decided that Enfield was right for me after watching some matches and have been involved in an advisory capacity for the past few weeks since former boss Jim Chandler left.

“Enfield Town are a massive club with a great fan base and solid board.

“Now I can concentrate on the football side of things which is what I want to do.”

The pair, whose team finished six places ahead of Wingate, will look to bring in some new players over the summer and help the club improve its disciplinary record. Enfield currently has one Jewish player, defender Tom Hodge, after Dean Nyman left to rejoin Wingate last November.

But Lee said: “I’d be happy to see more Jewish players here, but only if they are good enough.” Surprised by the manner of his departure at Wingate, Lee has fond memories of his time with the club.

He said: “I had a lot of good experiences during my 11 years as a player, coach and manager. But when I return with Enfield next season I will only be interested in coming away with three points. I’ve still got a lot of friends who play for Wingate but this is a completely fresh start at a club that has just finished mid-table. I feel they have the potential to do a lot better. Margolis is a former manager of Ilford and was on the books of Southend as a youngster.
