EDRS clinch Masters League 2 title

articlemain

EDRS Stonegrove clinched the Maccabi Masters Division Two title after beating Brady Maccabi B 3-2.

Gary Rose put Brady ahead inside the opening 30 seconds and they doubled the lead in controversial fashion minutes later when Marc Herman took advantage of an EDRS goal-kick, which hit an overhead wire.

However, in an act of sportsmanship which exemplifies the spirit of Masters football, Brady captain Malcolm Hershman allowed EDRS striker Phil Silver to score unchallenged from the kick-off to restore their lead to a single goal. Tony Platman (2) secured the points for EDRS.

Ashlodge completed their season with a rare win, after a 4-1 victory over Glenthorne United B. Ashlodge benefitted from having Clayhall striker Brian Deal guesting for them, and he duly scored a hat-trick, to add to Geoff Green's goal. Ray Russell netted Glenthorne's consolation from the spot. A hat-trick from Kevin Lotzof earned North London Raiders a 3-2 victory over South Mancunians in Division One. Mark Powell (2) replied.
