Dudi Sela returns to form in Indian Wells

articlemain

Dudi Sela returned to form with a 6-4, 1-6, 6-2 victory over 14th seed Radek Stepanek of the Czech Republic in the second round of the BNP Paribas Open Masters at Indian Wells.

The win set up a third round match against 18th seed Tommy Robredo of Argentina who the Israeli beat in the third round at Wimbledon last year.

In the first round in Indian Wells, Sela beat Jesse Levine 6-2, 6-2. This is easily Sela's best performance in 2010. The Israeli's slump in form prior to this week saw him slip down to 72 in the ATP rankings from a high of 29 last summer.

In the women's event, Shahar Peer, seeded 17, is also through to the third round. Back in action for the first time since reaching the semi-final of the Dubai tournament last month, Peer was given a bye in the first round and easily despatched Bethanie Mattek-Sands of the US (131) 6-2, 6-3 in the second round. She is scheduled to play 9th seed Flavia Penneta of Italy in the third round.

Israel's Andy Ram and his French partner Michael Lllodra reached the second round of the men’s doubles with a victory over the Czech duo of Stepanek and Martin Damm.
