North London Raiders C are toasting a win double after defender Matt Greene and Oli Shorts scooped my respective JC MSFL Player and Manager of the Month awards for January.
Greene received praise from Shorts for “coming into the team and effortlessly slotting into the holding midfield role. He has also covered in defence on a few occasions and popped up with some vital goals and some assists to boot”.
Shorts added: “Matt has become the Alex Song of Raiders C and in my opinion that is the highest praise I can give to anyone playing where he does”.
Having endured a tough first half of the season, Shorts is finally starting to see an end product with talented young brothers Harry and Jack Franks giving the team a new dimension. Gabriel John, player-manager of Jewventus, describes the pair as “different gravy”.
Shorts said of the pair: “I can't pick between the brothers. In three games they have scored 12 goals between them and helped with a large chunk of assists. Having the twins around is a pleasure. What more can I say. The stats speak for themselves.”
Faithfold A stalwart Daryl Phillips is my Premier Division Player of the Month. He’s scored in every game in January, including a hat-trick against North London Raiders. Other goals came against Southgate Harmen A and Holy Mount Zion in the cup.
Hendon manager David Garbacz led his team to a hat-trick of victories and wins the top-flight managerial award for the second time this season.
