Celtic swoop for Omer Damari

articlemain

Celtic have agreed a three-year deal for Israeli striker Omer Damari.

Peter Lawwell, Celtic's chief executive, met Maccabi Petach Tikvah chairman Amos Luzon in London yesterday and agreed to pay the Ligat Ha'Al outfit £2 million for the 22-year-old striker.

Lawwell also discussed Damari's personal terms with the player's agent Dudu Dahan.

Damari, who scored 15 goals in Ligat Ha'Al last season, will fly to Glasgow in a few days for a medical. He is expected to earn £600,000 a year.

The marksman has only made two appearances for Israel but Celtic officials have assured the him that he is certain to be granted a UK work permit on appeal.

Damari will join fellow Israeli Beram Kayal in the Celtic team. Holding midfileder Kayal, who signed from Maccabi Haifa last summer, is currently negotiating an improved contract.
