Cash-flow issues of concern to Oldham chief Corney

articlemain

Simon Corney admits Oldham Athletic’s financial problems have been giving him sleepless night.

The League 1 club was recently placed under a transfer embargo with debts of more than £300,000, but Corney has told fans not to panic and insists “the debts will be paid”.

Speaking to the club's website, he commented: "We have cash-flow issues and are behind with some payments to other clubs.

"I'm asking the fans not to get too concerned about it. It's quite common in football and there are probably quite a lot of clubs in the same situation as us. The debts will be paid.

"We know there are issues but we are getting over them and I believe we are turning a corner."
