Brutal Brand tortures Wycombe House

articlemain

A brutal innings knock from Adam Brand helped London Maccabi Vale 2nd wrap up a first league victory of the season as they overpowered Wycombe House by 57 runs.

Coming in after the early loss of Ben Lederman to an excellent delivery, Brand dismantled the WH attack hitting 19 boundaries and five sixes. Together with Nigel Rothband (18), he put on 71 and then in a stand of exactly 100, he scored a remarkable 81 runs before David Freedman (6) got off the mark. When Brand was eventually out he had contributed 142 out of 207 runs scored whilst he was at the crease.

A final total of 245 was slightly disappointing in the circumstances, but on a damp pitch and with a strong bowling attack LMV looked favourites as the WH innings started. Alistair Livingston, in his first match of the season, got things off to a great start taking a wicket with his first legitimate delivery. He then followed this up with a second wicket when Ben Lederman took a fabulous diving catch at point and a third followed shortly afterwards. Ali finished with the excellent of figures of 3-36.

With all the other bowlers keeping things tight, Ben Lederman 1-27, Jonathan Freedman 0-15, Andy Landesberg 1-36, Jonathan Lederman 3-28 and Dan Caplan 1-38, WH were never really in the hunt and despite some late innings slogging they finished well short on 188-9.
