Brady U9's clinch WFL title

articlemain

Brady under-nine Red’s secured the title on Sunday in their first season in the Watford Friendly League.

Brady took the lead twice against a very good Whetstone team, but had to settle for a 2-2 draw which is all they needed to secure the title.

Both Brady goals were scored by Freddie Martin, who now tops the goal scoring table with 22 goals and man-of-the-match Noah Graft had his best game of the season, tormenting the opposition defence.

Ben Tibber made numerous interceptions at the back and Sam Meisel made two important saves to secure the point needed.

Brady now have the opportunity to secure the double when they appear in the Spring Shield Cup Final on May 12.

Brady manager Wayne Meisel said: "For our first season in the Watford Friendly League, the boys have adapted, stepped up and done exceptionally well.

"Today they battled until the last minute. David Tibber, my co-manager, and myself couldn’t be more proud. To have conceded nine goals all season in the league is a massive achievement.

"We look forward to the cup final now and for promotion next season."
