Bonnyton show style to grab golfing glory

articlemain

Bonnyton were the overall winners as the hosts enjoyed a successful day at the Seniors Tournament.

Open to men over 55 years of age who are members of clubs and societies affiliated to the Association of Jewish Golf Clubs and Societies, it was hosted by Bonnyton Golf Club situated South West of Glasgow.

The weather was generally kind and although the players had to contend with a blustery wind throughout the day, the rain was limited to a couple of fast moving showers.

Bonnyton is a course that examines all facets of the players game and although by the very nature of the competition the players are experienced, the general consensus was that the course was testing and the greens posed many problems.

Each competing club entered teams of six players with the four best scores to count in the both the net and gross categories and the prizes were split between the host club and Whitefield.

The Dyrham Park Trophy for the best net singles score was won by Alan Batton of Whitefield with Robert Kerr of Bonnyton securing the Hartsbourne Trophy for best gross singles score

Bonnyton were the overall winner, winning the Coombe Hill Trophy for the best team gross, narrowly beating Whitefield by four shots who received the Potters Bar Trophy.

Whitefield also claimed the North East Trophy, while Bonnyton lifted the Abridge Trophy.
