articlemain

Maccabi Haifa and Maccabi Tel Aviv experienced disappointment on Matchday 3 of the Europa League group stages.

Haifa blew a two-goal lead in Greece as they succumbed 3-2 to PAOK in an action-packed contest.

The Israelis made a dream start, with Dino Ndlovu and Eyal Golasa putting them 2-0 up.

Miguel Vitor halved the deficit 10 minutes before the break and the levelled the scores through Sotiris Ninis
after 39 minutes.

PAOK stepped up a gear in the second half and they had two golden opportunities to forge ahead but Miroslav Stoch saw two penalties saved by Haifa goalkeeper Bojan Šaranov.

The pressure eventually told however as Dimitris Salpingidis fired home the winner after 67 minutes as PAOK finished the night on top of Group L.

Eintracht Frankfurt moved five points clear of nearest rivals Maccabi Tel Aviv following a 2-0 victory in Germany.

Strikes from Václav Kadlec and Alexander Meier ensured Frankfurt maintained their 100 per cent record in a Group F game Tel Aviv finished with 10 men after Tal Ben Haim was sent off following two bookable offences.
