Babai and Haik will make us great, says Phillips

Faithfold have cashed in on the demise of crestfallen giants North West Neasden A by re-signing Paul Babai and Johhny Haik.

The return of two key men is sure to strengthen the Superhoops' squad and help them push for honours following another trophyless season, according to assistant-player-manager Daryl Phillips.

Haik is a tricky foward with strength to match who, during the Peter Morrison Trophy run in 2010/11, was one of the team's best players as they reached the final, only to lose to Manchester Maccabi 1st on penalties.

Phillips said: "Jonny just needs to find the net more, which I am sure will happen this season after some tips from myself!

"Paul is a tough-tackling midfielder who has an European Maccabi under his belt. He has a real desire to win and is the kind of player any team would want. He's also quite a nice chap as well, off the pitch that is!

"We welcome them both back and are sure now they are permanent fixtures at Faithfold after playing away for a year and seeing the grass is not always greener."

Phillips went on to confirm that Dan Perkins, Rocky Spitzer, Simon Lawerence and Joe Cohen have all returned from university, "so again some quality players that will be avaliable week in, week out to help us in our quest for silverware next season.

"Hopefully Alex Kaye will not be venturing off to Africa again this season and will be around to play for the team. On his day he's a real match-winner."

While the well-documented mind games between Neasden's Jamie Cole and Hendon boss David Garbacz are behind us, Phillips believes that Faithfold can go into season 2012/13 all guns blazing.

"Well played to Hendon FC on their treble, but that season's over now," Phillips said.

"We will be starting pre-season next week and are looking forward to the new season."
