Ashdod knock England FC off top spot

articlemain

The Hamilton FX Olim Football League entered the 2nd half of the season with an exciting round of matches played.

The main match saw first placed England FC play third place Ashdod at Ashdod's intimidating home pitch. A physical encounter ended with a surprising 1-0 victory for Ashdod. This was England's first defeat of the season and sees them move out of top spot in the league for the first time this season.

Taking their place in first position are England's 'auld' enemies FC Jaffa. With a large Scottish and Irish contingent, ever since the first season of the league the Jaffa-England rivalry has been rife and none more so than this season.

Jaffa continued their great form with a fifth consecutive win, this time beating Raanana 4-2 in a home fixture. Jaffa's goals were scored by Nir HaCohen, Sam Silverberg, Eyal Hoffman and Nir Madmon. Raanana Meatlanders, who took the lead in the match, scored their goals through Avi Avram and Nadav Forsher.

The top three spots of the table are now separated by only three points so it looks like being another exciting season.

Last season's champions Jerusalem beat Modiin 7-4 . A high-scoring game saw Jerusalem's goals from Akiva Zneimer (2), Moishe Lewis (2), Amit Dinowitz, Eli Warner and an own goal. Adam Bruce, David Zackon (2), Benni replied for Modiin.

Elsewhere, Aviv City drew 1-1 with Anglia FC.
