Haroldeans on the brink of being crowned MJSL champions

Treble-chasing Haroldeans are on the brink of being crowned MJSL champions for a second successive season.

Zack Goldsmith, Max Benmayer and Max Barnett fired them to victory over nearest rivals Sedgley Park Celtic who completed a dismal day when Ari Steinberger was sent off for foul and abusive language.

It all means with Sedgley’s season now finished, Haroldeans require just one point from their remaining two games to win their third trophy of the campaign.

They host South Manchester 2nd and even if they fall to a shock defeat, Haroldeans can wrap it up all up the following week when they face South Manchester 1st.

Haroldeans boss Mike Bloomberg said: “It’s been in our hands, like it has been all season, so we know what we need to do.

“I can’t praise all of the players enough. It’s been a collective effort.

“We were down to our bare bones with four players out injured and four others playing with knocks.

“But we came through, just like we have all season.

“The players still remain totally focused on the job at hand ahead of us.”

Haroldeans secured the Shonn Trophy with goals from Max Barnett (3) and newly-crowned MJSL Player of the Season Adam Shiffman as they beat Sedgley Park 4-1. Saul Shapiro, the Sedgley captain, claimed a consolation with a 20-yard effort.
