VIt never ceases to amaze what happens to some of the world’s finest sportsmen when they cross the thin white line. And even though the prizes on offer are considerably smaller in the amateur game, unsavoury events take place regularly. All in the name of victory and pride.
Some come over all possessed, making irrational decisions and doing things they later regret. Indeed I’ve played in the same teams as some of these characters whose actions have, at times, let their teammates down.
Respect is earned by being gracious in victory and in defeat. We mustn’t forget the Rachmanus spirit is the raison d’être for Maccabi sport.

The Oaks have put together an excellent squad, and with Anthony Kintish, Dan Geey, Bobby Cousins, Josh Bentley and Adam Levine set to return following the 5-1 cup win over Hendon B, last season’s double winners will have a real battle on their hands. * Team Maccabi GB managers Rob Richman and Jon Green will hold the first trial for the European Maccabi football Trophy Open football team at Rowley Lane on January 26 from 6.15pm-8pm. They are looking for good quality players who are keen on representing Great Britain against a number of other top European nations.
