An explosion in southern Lebanon has left one person dead and at least three others injured.

Officials said a convoy of UN peacekeeping vehicles was targeted earlier today at the coastal city of Sidon, an hour drive from Beirut and about 40 minutes from Israel's northern border.

The peacekeepers were part of the 13,000-strong UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) stationed in the south of the country.
