Palestinian activists hack Orthodox Facebook

articlemain

A social networking site for the strictly Orthodox has received an unwelcome visitor.

A pro-Palestinian hacker accessed the FaceGlat site this weekend and changed its homepage to show a message of Palestinian solidarity.

The hacker, who claimed to be from a Palestinian group based in Jordan, changed the normally blue and red wording to green, red and white – the colours of the Palestinian flag.

A message was also posted telling the site that the hackers would "get his PC soon".

FaceGlat, which was set up earlier this summer, is similar to other social networking sites but has separate areas for men and women and a ban on some language and advertising.

It is not the first Jewish site to be targeted by anti-Israel hackers; in 2010 the JC website was briefly compromised by a group claiming to be the Palestinian Mujahaeeds.
