A Palestinian man has sprayed acid on a Jewish family waiting at a checkpoint near the Gush Etzion settlement south of Jerusalem.

The suspected terrorist attack left five members of the family lightly wounded, including children. Security forces at the checkpoint shot the assailant, seriously injuring him.

The Israeli Defence Forces said in a statement: “A Palestinian attacked a group of civilians with acid at security checkpoint. He was neutralised. medical & security forces are at the scene”.

The incident is the latest in a growing spate of attacks against Jews in the West Bank.
