ZF Yom Ha’atzmaut concert cancelled

articlemain

The Zionist Federation has cancelled its Yom Ha’atzmaut concert, due to be held tomorrow, after the volcanic ash cloud stopped Israeli musicians travelling to London.

But the Israel 62 party will still go ahead with Israel food and dancing, including performances from a London-based Israeli band and a stand-up comedian.

Israeli singer Achinoam Nini and her band, plus five other musical acts, are unable to fly to London. Those who have bought tickets to the concert may attend the party free of charge.

Ms Nini usually performs with Arab singer Mira Awad, who pulled out of the concert last week because she said she was not prepared to play on Yom Ha’atzmaut.

However, the ZF and Ms Awad’s manager insisted that she had received intimidations and death threats from Arabs and Jews, who warned her not to perform.

X Factor star Stacey Solomon had also been due to appear at the concert, but all singers have been postponed.
