University College London students have been faced with a large-scale pro-Palestine campaign ahead of a union referendum on the "inhumane situation in Gaza”.

The referendum will determine whether the university’s union, UCLU, will adopt the motion as policy and take any action “in light of the on-going conflict.”

Jewish students have accused the group of leading a “biased” campaign against Israel.

Michael Mendelsohn, a third year student at UCL, said the campaign was “definitely biased – there’s no doubt about it. A Gaza flyer is everywhere you look.

“I don’t understand why the UCLU, a body that’s meant to represent all students, has to get involved in foreign affairs and especially in a biased way.

“It’s all been suddenly sprung on us – they’ve clearly been planning this campaign for a long time,” added Mr Mendelsohn.

However, a UCLU spokesperson said: “UCLU is having a referendum [but] none of the communication has been biased in any direction.”

Voting closes this Friday, when students leave for Christmas holidays, and the result will be announced at 5:30pm.
