Teenager on trial over cardiff death

articlemain

A teenager charged with the murder of a synagogue caretaker is currently on trial at Cardiff Crown Court.

Bleddyn Rees King, 18, from Abercynon, allegedly murdered David Evans, 64, during a fire at his home in January.

Mr Evans worked at the Cardiff United Synagogue for three years but there is no apparent connection between Mr Evans’s employment at the shul and his death.

The synagogue’s former rabbi, Mordechai Wollenberg, said: “David was very devoted to the community and very respectful of Judaism. He enjoyed being part of the community and had a very close working relationship with a lot of people in the shul.”

The case is expected to last for three weeks.
