Maureen Lipman 'turned down' Strictly Come Dancing opportunity

articlemain

Veteran actor Maureen Lipman turned down an opportunity to join Rachel Riley and Vanessa Feltz on BBC's Strictly Come Dancing.

Last week, the 67-year-old told the Loose Women panel that: "I turned it down, if anyone talked to me like that panel talk to those people, I'd bop them.

"I've worked hard all week to be this good, how dare you tell me my bum's fat? How dare you? I'd bop them."

It also emerged that Riley missed a BBC Breakfast interview last Thursday – because she overslept.

The Countdown co-presenter apologised to viewers after waking up two hours after her alarm call.

She also tweeted her apology to dance partner Pasha Kovalev for having to sit in the interview without her and added “obv need a new alarm clock!”

Meanwhile contestant Vanessa Feltz, who was negatively judged for her cha-cha-cha on Saturday night, thanked dance partner James Jordan and Twitter fans for their support. She said: “James is a star. Thanks for your support.”
