Actress Maureen Lipman has attacked the “culture of humiliation on television” in reference to the Jewish Mum of the Year series currently being aired on Channel 4.

The Pianist star told the Telegraph: “It is very damaging, with antisemitism being what it is. Not to mention that being a Jewish mother is nothing like the way they portray it.”

“We have had My Big Fat Greek Wedding, we’ve had My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding, and now this.”

Ms Lipman then invited executives to release a show entitled: “My Big Fat Stupid Television Producer Who Doesn’t Have A Single Unique Thought In His Head?”

The second episode aired on Tuesday night and showed the mothers attempting to set up a 29-year-old with her perfect date.
