A group of British lawyers plan to organise a visit to Israel and the West Bank as an alternative to similar trips which, they say, give “a distorted impression” of the Israeli legal system.
UK Lawyers for Israel will run the tour with the Zionist Federation to allow them to meet their Israeli counterparts.
UKLFI chairman Jonathan Turner said it was not intended as a challenge to Yachad, the left-leaning advocacy group which took 10 Jewish lawyers to meet legal representatives of Palestinian human rights groups, as well as settler leaders and the IDF earlier this year.
But he added: “It does appear to us that these trips may give participants an unbalanced impression, not so much from what they see, but from the accompanying commentary.”
