Internet troll on trial for Luciana Berger death threats

articlemain

A man admitted sending antisemitic messages and death threats to Luciana Berger in court today.

John Nimmo, 28, of South Shields, pleaded guilty to sending two e-mails to the Jewish MP for Liverpool Wavertree.

The first, which was sent earlier this month, read: “Revenge for Joshua Bonehill-Paine will be sweet. Watch your back Jewish scum. Your friends, The Nazis.”

Joshua Bonehill-Paine, of Yeovil, has also been charged with sending abusive messages to Luciana Berger and is facing a separate trial.

The second email, which Nimmo sent within weeks of the violent killing of Ms Berger’s colleague Jo Cox, read: “You are going to get it like Jo Cox did. So you better watch out Jewish scum.”

An image of a knife was attached to the email, South Tyneside Magistrates Court heard.

Magistrates have committed the case to Newcastle Crown court for sentencing on August 24. Nimmo has been held in custody.
