Peaches Geldof, who was found dead aged 25 on Monday, was married to a Jewish musician and had only recently discovered her own Jewish roots.

The daughter of musician Bob Geldof and model Paula Yates, was married to Thomas Cohen and had two young sons: Astala, one, and Phaedra.

In a statement following her death Mr Cohen said: "My beloved wife Peaches was adored by myself and her two sons.

“I shall bring them up with their mother in their hearts everyday. We shall love her forever.”

In a recent interview, Mr Cohen told the Daily Mail that his wife was exploring her Jewish background.

He said: “Peaches is Jewish – her grandmother is Jewish – she only discovered it last year.

“It makes a lot of sense to me. She seems to me like a Jewish woman, the way she thinks and behaves.

"The first present I ever bought her was a Star of David from an antiques shop in Covent Garden. She wears and really loves it.”

The couple got married in September 2013 when Ms Geldof publicly embraced Jewish tradition by posting a picture of herself and Mr Cohen on their wedding night dancing the hora.

Mr Cohen whose own parents met on a kibbutz in Israel said: "I’m very proud to be Jewish and a big part of me being a creative person comes from being Jewish.

"The eccentricity in Jewish musicians really connects with me.”

Last Passover, Peaches Geldof shared photos on Instagram of her own family seder.

Police are currently treating the death as “unexplained and sudden,” in a statement the police said they were called to an address near Wrotham, Kent on Monday afternoon following a report of concern for the welfare of a woman.

“A woman aged 25 was pronounced dead by South East Coast Ambulance Service.

"Officers are working to establish the circumstances around the death."

The young mother's father Bob Geldof said: “We are beyond pain, she was the wildest, funniest, cleverest, wittiest and the most bonkers of all of us.

"What a beautiful child. How is this possible that we will not see her again? How is that bearable?”

Born in 1989, Peaches Honeyblossom Geldof started a media career at the age of 15, writing a column for Elle magazine.

As a journalist she also wrote for the Telegraph and Guardian, as well as presenting television shows including ITV2′s OMG! with Peaches Geldof.

She also worked as a model and was last seen in public attending the launch of Tesco’s F&F clothing range in London.
