Security company G4S has said it is unaware of a possible investigation by British authorities into its work in Israel.

The firm has been repeatedly attacked for running security services in the West Bank, and confirmed six months ago that it would not renew some existing contracts with the Israeli government when they expire in 2015.

A report in the Independent on Tuesday claimed British representatives of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development were planning an inquiry.

It said the company would be questioned about the alleged supply of surveillance equipment to Israeli checkpoints in the West Bank, and “aiding the occupation”.

But a G4S source told the JC that the report was “wrong”, that the firm was not under investigation and that it had not been contacted by the OECD or any government department.

The OECD said it was not directly involved with any such inquiries. The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills oversees complaints about multi-national enterprises, but a spokeswoman was unable to comment on whether G4S would be probed.

She said it would take up to three months for any potential complaint to be investigated and the results to be published.
