Footballers forced to train in equality

articlemain

A Sunday League junior football team who had a player shouting antisemitic abuse during a match against a Jewish side has been told all of its officials, players and their parents must attend an equality workshop.

The punishment for under-16s side Curzon Ashton's disorderly conduct aggravated by discrimination is unprecedented for a Manchester County Football Association side.

The player shouted "you've got no foreskins" and "Jewish p---ks" at opponents, Manchester Maccabi during the match last October.

He was banned, fined, and told to visit an additional equality workshop. The Jewish team's manager, Anthony Dennison, was also banned and fined - for his own "foul and abusive" reaction to the slurs.
