Finkelsteins are first to show Who’s Who

articlemain

In what is believed to be a first, a father and all his children are included in the same edition of the bible of Britain’s movers and shakers, Who’s Who.

The inclusion this year of Prof Anthony Finkelstein, 49, head of computer science at University College London marks a unique family achievement.

He joins his father Ludwik, 79, emeritus professor of measurement and instrumentation at City University, London; brother Daniel, 46, associate editor of The Times and JC columnist; and sister Tamara, 41, director of the UK’s Border Agency integration programme.

A Who’s Who spokesman said: “As far as we can tell, Professor Finkelstein is probably the only person to appear in the same edition as all his children.”

Other new Jewish entrants this year include Rabbi Avraham Pinter, principal of the strictly Orthodox Yesodey Hatorah schools in London; Trevor Pears, the chairman of the Pears Foundation; Lady Chinn, chairman of the National Theatre development council; and the writer Simon Sebag Montefiore. Also listed for the first time are BBC3’s controller Daniel Cohen; Andrew Feldman, chief executive of the Conservative Party; Ian Luder, the Lord Mayor of London; and Harold Paisner, chairman of the Institute for Jewish Policy Research.
