Labour leader Ed Miliband has arrived in Israel for a two-day tour of the country.

In one of his first major foreign trips since becoming opposition leader, Mr Miliband will travel to Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Sderot, the town which has come under regular bombardment from Hamas terrorists.

On Thursday morning he held meetings with Israeli Labour Party members over breakfast.

Mr Miliband is due to hold a question and answer session with students at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem later today before touring the Yad Vashem Holocaust museum.

He is being accompanied by Shadow Foreign Secretary Douglas Alexander and Labour Friends of Israel director Jennifer Gerber.

During the trip Mr Miliband will also spend time in Tel Aviv with family members who live in settlements.

On Saturday he will travel to the West Bank for meetings with Palestinian leaders.
