Dior's John Galliano: "I love Hitler"

articlemain

A second, apparently antisemitic, rant by Dior’s chief designer John Galliano has been filmed in the same Paris bar in which the first incident is alleged to have taken place.

In a video given to the Sun newspaper, Mr Galliano says: “I love Hitler.” He then says to French and Italian tourists in the bar, “"People like you would be dead. Your mothers, your forefathers, would all be f****** gassed."

One of the women in the bar responds “Oh my God.” Another asks if he has a problem, and he replies "With you. You're ugly."

Dior suspended Mr Galliano after he was arrested for allegedly calling Geraldine Bloch, 35, (who is not Jewish) a "dirty Jew face" in the La Perle bar in Paris’ Marais district.

Mr Galliano, who police said had been drinking “quite heavily” before the disturbance, reportedly swore and attacked the couple.

The 50-year-old, who has just been named the designer of supermodel Kate Moss’ wedding dress, was released soon after pending charges.

He is launching legal action for defamation against Ms Bloch and her friend Phillippe Virgitti, who told police the designer threatened to kill him.

Dior’s executive Sidney Toledano, who is Jewish, said Mr Galliano would be relieved of his responsibilities until after the results of an investigation into the incident. Mr Toledano, who was born in Casablanca and whose father was expelled from Vichy France during the Second World War, said: "Dior affirms with the utmost conviction its policy of zero tolerance towards any antisemitic or racist words or behaviour.”
