Graham Cushway, the Brexit Party candidate for Brighton Kemptown next month’s general election, co-founded a Luftwaffe-themed metal band in which performed wearing SS-style clothing and Iron Crosses.

The former UKIP candidate, who was recently pictured alongside Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage, played bass for Stuka Squadron — so named after Junkers Ju 87 dive bomber planes used in the Second World War.

Images of the band were discovered on their Facebook page by the Hope Not Hate group, which spotted the SS Totenkopf insignia on Mr Cushway’s tie.

Mr Cushway performed under the alter-ego Graham Lord Pyre and the band’s website includes a “biography” of the performer.

It describes Graham Lord Pye was “one of the key commanders” of The Stuka Squadron alongside an individual named Jamse Duke Fang, and remarks that the duo “met in the Thule Society in 1935”.

The Thule Society was an extremist, Nazi occultist group that counted Rudolf Hess among its member.

The band’s website proceeds to detail how Pye “fought through The Unpleasantness (1939-45) as a leading pilot in the Stuka Squadron.”

‘The unpleasantness’ appears to refer to the allies.

The band appears to have been founded over a decade ago.

Its Facebook page was updated in the past week with a message claiming that it was “not intended to convey any political message”, and that the project was “intended to be shocking and un-PC at the outset”.
