A Conservative MP has claimed £135 in expenses for Hebrew lessons.
According to the Grimsby Telegraph, Andrew Percy, who is a member of Conservative Friends of Israel, said the lessons were part of his professional development and that he was paying some of the cost himself.
The MP, who represents Brigg and Goole in Lincolnshire, makes regular trips to Israel to meet government ministers and said it was “embarrassing” to have to rely on translators or expect his Israeli counterparts to speak English.
Mr Percy reportedly claimed £9,249 in expenses for October and November last year.
