Truly an underground writer

There is an art to writing memos and communiqués in the workplace. Bevan Frank has been named "best writer" in the Institute of Internal Communications ICon awards for his work at the University of East London.

Mr Frank, who moved here from Cape Town in 2014, last year published his first novel, The Mind of God, a thriller, which he wrote during his daily commute from Stanmore to east London. "It's been a childhood dream of mine to write a novel," he said. "I just never thought I'd be working on it on the tube."
