The bride went barefoot

A nice story from Evening Standard columnist Sam Leith, recounting an interfaith wedding he attended with a Jewish bride and Christian groom. It featured rituals from both faiths, including the bride circling the groom and smashing a glass.

But the rabbi, officiating with a vicar, baffled guests when he suddenly announced, “At this point of the ceremony, the bride removes her shoes.” He explained: “Because her feet are sore.”
