PA pulls plug on Al Jazeera

articlemain

The mother of all broigeses has broken out between the Al Jazeera news channel and the Palestinian Authority.

Al Jazeera has been banned from the Mukata Presidential compound in Ramallah after the TV channel failed to carry a live broadcast of Palestinan Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. To compound the insult, Al Jazeera instead screened a live speech by the Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal in Damascus.

Palestinian Authority officials are convinced that Al Jazeera is cosying up to Hamas behind their back. This, said an official, was not the first time the station had served as a platform for Hamas.

Al Jazeera reporters and TV crews are among those who now appear on the blacklist and have been denied access the Mukata for more than two weeks
So, the Palestinian Authority has banned the TV station because it has not given them sufficient coverage. There must be logic there somewhere.
