Manchester's prize bake

An honourable mention to Manchester bakers State Fayre, who flew the flag for kosher bread in recent ITV series Britain’s Best Bakery. Owner Robert Rosenfield (left) is the fourth generation to work in the family business.

One of the 36 participants chosen to compete after being nominated by customers, State Fayre won the North-Western heat. Bread expert Peter Sidwell, one of the judges, described its bagels as “amazing — chewy, tasty, moreish”.
